First Creek Fish Passage, Washington
Working in accordance with strict regulations from the State Department of Fish and Game, Goodfellow Bros., Inc., removed two existing fish passages, constructed a 100’x8’x14’ arch pipe, and used concrete to reduce the grade of the fish passage by 8 percent. While holding all turbidity minimums within specifications, Goodfellow Bros., Inc., worked within the streambed, creating pools, passable vertical drops and boulder placements that allow fish to pass whether water levels are high or low—helping to ensure a flourishing fish population as a natural resource for generations to come.
Clackamas Highway Slide Repair, Oregon
The Clackamas is a designated “national wild and scenic river”—too wild, sometimes. In 1996, flooding caused 45 washouts and rock slides along a 20-mile stretch of highway. Goodfellow Bros., Inc., fast-tracked emergency repair of roads and shoreline, with creative solutions that saved close to $150,000 and brought the project in ahead of schedule.
Pine Canyon Slopes, Wenatchee, Washington
Hired by the Washington State Department of Transportation to secure an area prone to dangerous rock slides, Goodfellow’s crew performed preventive maintenance—scaling the cliffs to install bolts and protective netting—all while working around heavy traffic.
Yakima Fisheries Acclimation Facilities, Washington
In 1999, Goodfellow Bros., Inc., completed construction of this new fish acclimation facility for the Bonneville Power Administration. The project required cofferdams and dewatering for most of the grading, infrastructure and structural construction.
Oahu Emergency Road Repairs, Hawaii
When a landslide at Waimea Bay cut off the only road to communities on Oahu’s North Shore, Goodfellow Bros., Inc., performed more than $7 million’s worth of repair work in just 59 days. With 12 hours’ notice, Goodfellow Bros., Inc., mobilized teams that worked 22 hours a day to realign 1,200 feet of highway, built a temporary roadway on the beach, constructed 10,000 square feet of retaining wall, and relocated utilities.
Ohiapilo Wetlands, Molokai
To create new wetlands in this pristine and environmentally sensitive area, Goodfellow Bros., Inc., constructed two temporary access roads, chipped and hauled out grub and other waste, excavated, then fenced the entire site.
