SAFETY

SAFETY

Safety is more than an attitude at Goodfellow Bros., Inc. It is the primary core value engrained in our culture. There is no job so important, nor any service so urgent, that we cannot take time to work safely. To this end, every effort is made in the interest of accident prevention and health preservation.

We approach every project with the same unwavering commitment to safety. Our mission is to ensure   our employees, clients and the general public benefit from the highest standards of protection at all times. There is no imitation for an excellent safety record like ours. It must be earned.

OUR CULTURE

In 2008, our foremen and their crew members gathered together to design the “Maka‘ala” and “Focus” safety emblems. Both now serve as constant reminders to "Stay Alert! Stay Alive,” so that we can send each member of the GBI family home safely every day.

Our record reflects a strict adherence to proper safety procedures, meticulous equipment maintenance and comprehensive training for all employees. It is for these reasons that Goodfellow Bros., Inc. has been recognized for superior safety performance by several national organizations, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Associated General Contractors of America and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

TRAINING

At Goodfellow Bros., Inc., superior safety performance is more than just a corporate catchphrase.

Safety is given priority over every other aspect of the job, both in policy and in action. Our employees are required to complete a comprehensive safety orientation, which includes (but is not limited to) extensive training in emergency fire and medical procedures, hazard communication, blasting technologies, personal protective equipment use and proper lifting techniques.

To ensure 100 percent compliance with our safety standards, detailed instruction is provided both orally and visually during the safety orientation process. In addition, all employees receive a copy of our Employee Safety Handbook. Our goal is to send each of our employees home safe to their families every day.
